Your Questions About Marriage Therapy

Steven asks…

Is a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a Master’s degree in Community Counseling better?

I am struggling to decide which degree to choose. Does anyone know which field has more openings or salary?

MarriageCounseling answers:

The MFT degree gives you the option of self-employment.

Donna asks…

Couples/Marriage therapy?

-Price range?
-What happens during therapy?
-End results(Did it save or ruin your relationship/marriage)?

MarriageCounseling answers:

You can expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $200 per hour for marriage therapy. In many cases, marriage therapy causes more harm…especially when one spouse is manipulative or abusive.

I recommend marriage courses, rather than marriage therapy.

Mary asks…

Does my opposition to homosexual marriage and my advocacy of reparative therapy make me a bigot?

No. But, because of my millions of radio listeners, my beliefs make me a threat to the radical goals of homosexual activists, who send me hate mail and death threats. To my way of thinking, their well-organized campaign against my freedom of speech is rhetorical thuggery at best and religious persecution at worst.

Maybe this turned them gay:

Mandy asks…

A Master’s degree in Marriage, Child and Family Therapy? Is it a good choice?

I’m really interested in the program but I’m more concerned about finding a job after wards. Will I have some luck? I’m located in Central Valley region of California.

Thanks

MarriageCounseling answers:

You should look into the need of your area, and what the pay is vs. The cost of living. Just off the top of my head, I would guess to say “no”, but look into it.
