I am having relationship issues and we both want to make it work and want to find a counseling place that will accept Minnesota Medical Assistance Insurance.

Anybody ever been to marriage counseling and how did it work?

I went to at least 7 different marriage counselors over the course of 18 years with my ex-wife. It helped a bit temporarily, but basically prolonged a miserable marriage and postponed the divorce that eventually made me happy.
The worst ones at least know how to teach communication skills, even if they get everything else wrong. The best ones are clinical psychologists who can pick up on the issues and how to best resolve them, who know how to come across as evenhanded, where that’s possible and warranted, and who you’re simpatico with.
The way it works is that it requires both of you to work on the relationship. In my case, it was only me, and I eventually gave up.

Can a marriage work if one is happy and the other isn’t?
If one person is there because they feel that it is their duty, they have children, and are trying to do the right thing. The marriage isn’t horrible, but there is no passion. You love your spouse, but are not “in love” with them. They are not a bad person, but who they are isn’t very appealing to you? You have seperate interests… You do have sex, but its not exciting and you always have to initiate it.
What does a person do? You spouse is not horrible and you care about them, but something is missing. You don’t want to hurt them, split up the family, etc.
Can it work?
PLEASE DON”T SAY COUNSELING!
I just want to know what you think. If a person sleeps next to someone they don’t really want to be with what is life like for them?

No, both must be happy and content or the marriage will end, its just a matter of time and tolerance.
