My husband and I would like to do some marriage counseling to help with some problems we currently have but I don’t know what kind of counseling would be best. I’m sure there is counseling that is done in a group or one on one, but what else is out there? Are there different names for the different types or styles of counseling? What are they?

I’d like to do some research to see what would be best for us.

One on one counseling with a marriage counselor and/or psychologist makes sense. The ones in our area always seemed to be booked out, so I would suggest that if you want to do it, to call around and find someone right away.
I can tell you for me…it took several tries, to find the right counselor. Not all are equal! You’ll need to find someone who “gets” the both of you. So don’t be put off, if you don’t find someone good right away.
Counseling changed my life!! It gave me the tools needed, to workout problems in my relationships…in a constructive way.
No more drama! No more fighting!
I found for us…being married…that I go in for an appt, then he goes…maybe a couple of times, for each of us…then we meet together, and discuss what was said, with input from the counselor.
Good luck!!
